THR reports that Shane Black is in talks with Marvel Studios/Disney to direct, and most likely write, the next Iron Man movie, due for release in 2013.
While talks are still at an early stage, getting Black on-board would be a good move. He was behind some of the big action classics of the 80s and 90s, including Lethal Weapon, Last Action Hero and The Last Boy Scout, and also directed and co-wrote Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang, which served as a great come-back vehicle for Iron Man star Robert Downey Jr.
It’s important that Marvel get someone that Downey Jr approves of, and given the positive reception of KKBB, and the Iron Man work that followed, we can’t see him complaining at this choice.
