Showbiz Spy is reporting that Zooey Deschanel is in talks to join the cast of Marc Webb’s Spider-Man reboot as Betty Brant, PA to Daily Bugle editor J Jonah Jameson.
Deschanel has worked with Webb before on (500) Days of Summer, and it seems the director is keen to work with her again. According to their source:
“Betty was a minor character in the previous Spidey movies but Marc has big plans for her. He wants a strong performer to carry the role and Zooey fits the bill perfectly. The role is hers if she wants it.”
Directed by Marc Webb, the film stars Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy and Rhys Ifans as the the villain (unconfirmed but widely expected to be Lizard), with Martin Sheen and Sally Field also said to be in talks to join the cast and Uncle Ben and Aunt May respectively. Filming begins in December
