With just days to go before filming begins, Matthew Vaughn is filling out the last few roles in X-Men: First Class.
First up, Coming Soon reports that long-time Vaughn collaborator Jason Flemyng will play Azazel, the father of Nightcrawler. If Azazel is making an appearance, it’s pretty safe to assume that Nightcrawler himself will also appear.
Next up, THR reports that Rose Byrne will be playing Moira MacTaggert, a former flame of Charles Xavier, who performs research into mutants.
Finally, Deadline reports that Oliver Platt has joined the cast as a character known simply as The Man In Black. Quite who he is and how he affects the other characters will no doubt me made clear soon.
The three join a cast that includes James McAvoy, Alice Eve, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult, Jennifer Lawrence, Caleb Landry Jones, Lucas Till and Kevin Bacon.
X-Men: First Class is directed by Matthew Vaughn, from a script by Ashley Miller, Zack Stentz and Jane Goldman, based on a story by producer Bryan Singer.
