Latino Review have scored an interesting scoop.
Apparently, following on from recent discussions with writers and directors in order to bring secondary characters to the big screen with low/medium budget outings, it seems that Marvel is going down a different, lower-risk road, by producing a series of short films to play before their main features.
According to LR:
Got a scoop from a well trusted source that Marvel/Disney are looking at doing 10 minute short films in front of their feature length movies that will introduce secondary characters like Black Panther, Luke Cage, Dr. Strange, etc.
This makes sense – Marvel has a huge universe of fantastic characters, but not many are really well known to the general public. A short film is a great way of experimenting with the on-screen look and tone of a charatcer’s adaptation, as well as getting fan feedback before laying down the big bucks on a fll-length outing.
As LR says, it’s just a rumour at the stage, but their tip-offs are usually pretty reliable. Watch this space…
